Get your nutrition back on track!
Good nutrition sometimes feels fickle.
First, we’re told to eat this, not that.
Then, we inevitably stumble across another news article or chat with a well-meaning friend, and we’re fed an entirely different story: eat that, not this.
Yes, it can be confusing, but we have a few simple suggestions that are sure to help.
First, a little background. Over the years, we’ve noticed that many of our newer clients frequently make one (or both!) of the following mistakes:
- They don’t eat enough, or …
- They wait too long between meals, so when they do finally eat, they load up
There’s a better way, we promise.
Step 1: Eat a healthy breakfast
Plan to eat your first meal within an hour of waking up. Then, continue to fuel your body at reasonable intervals throughout the day. About every three hours is a good rule of thumb, because it’s much easier for your body to digest smaller, more frequent meals. (Think of it like this … smaller logs are more efficient on a fire than big, heavy logs. Same thing goes with food.)
Step 2: Eat whole foods
Most of us eat things we know we shouldn’t, despite the fact that we know better. Remember that processed foods present tons of nutritional roadblocks, so it’s best to stick with nutrient-dense whole foods like veggies and lean meats.
Oh, and here’s a little secret: Fitness and nutrition go hand in hand. Once you start exercising, you’ll begin to feel better. The idea of loading up on junk will be a lot less appealing, and believe it or not, you’ll subconsciously begin to crave an orange over a fat-laden donut. (It’s true!) Plus, if you’re investing in personal training sessions, you certainly don’t want to let yourself down by overindulging.
So what do you say? Are you ready to get your nutrition back on track? Start with these two simple steps, and it won’t be long before you’ll be celebrating some easy nutritional wins!
